Excellent short text introducing the basics for biological statistical mechanics.
This book is a classic for good reasons: It describes random walk and diffusion in a way that makes it very intuitive, and focuses on cases that are important for applications. I keep looking up useful things like the formula for a disc-shaped absorper, the drag coefficient of an elliposoid etc.
A classic that should be read by all bioscientists.
Really brings things to light in this book. Starts with very basic derivation, goes on to where it is found. Just really a very nice read.

A real gem of a book, a classic, the best introduction to diffusion you will find along with some useful problems solved like diffusion to a sphere, a half sphere a disc, etc.
